The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So I was super stoked when I saw I could read this early with @bookofthemonth because I have been so jealous of everyone reading it early on Instagram. I even tried to find the nearest FLL when that was going on and the closest one was over an hour away! All I wanted was to read this book!

Needless to say, I devoured this book in about two days because I was so excited. I really enjoyed the Silent Patient and even made my husband read it so I could have someone to talk to about it. I would not say this is as good as Silent Patient, but it still was good. I liked how the author connected the two stories. I thought that was fun. I did not figure out the twist with the Silent Patient until maybe 20-30 pages before it was revealed. However, this time I was able to figure out the main twist much sooner. The extra twist felt a bit far-fetched for me. I felt it was added to just try to throw off the readers, but did not really have a real purpose besides shock and awe.

I did enjoy the book and I am glad to finally be in the “in crowd” on having read this book. Nowhere near as good as The Silent Patient, but if I did not have that to compare it to I would probably rate it higher.
