The Guest List by Lucy Foley
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The guest list: Aoife (the wedding planner), Hannah (the plus one), Jules (the bride), Olivia (the bridesmaid), and Johnno (the best man). All are gathered on an abandoned island off the coast of Ireland for Jules and Will’s wedding. A remote wedding destination, what could possibly go wrong? What if everyone in attendance had a secret that they did not want to get out?
The Guest List is a murder mystery where everyone is a suspect and we don’t even know who the victim is until the book is almost over, but you have your suspicions the entire time. Foley also makes it where you want to keep reading to find out if you can guess everyone’s secret correctly before the book reveals it.
I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy short read and kept me engaged the entire time. My only complaint is that the ending seemed a bit rushed. We spend so much time waiting to find out who was murdered and the aftermath of it is but a few pages. I would have liked a bit more after getting so invested in the characters’ lives. The book is short, so Foley could have taken the time to do so. It almost seems as if she didn’t know what to do once we find out who was murdered and just rushed to end it. Overall, I would recommend the book though because it was entertaining. .
