The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Told in a dual timeline narrative, the book follows Hannah, a Jewish girl in 1939 Germany, and Anna, an American girl in 2014. Hannah is on the St. Louis, a ship headed to Cuba with over 900 passengers on it in hopes of escaping Nazi Germany. Anna doesn’t know anything about her fathers side of the family, that is until she receives a package one day from Hannah.

I love dual timeline stories. They are probably my favorite type of historical fiction novels. I enjoy learning how the past and present are connected, but this story did not do that. We are told pretty much right away how the characters are connected and that took a lot of fun out of the story for me. Overall, it was just kind of lackluster and nothing too exciting.
