Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan
Imagine the most exquisite and expensive wedding you can think of, now forget it because most likely this book will put that wedding to shame. The book opens in Capri, Italy at a wedding for Lucie’s friend. Set in 2013, we get to see the events leading up to the wedding and how Lucie develops feelings for George, a guest at the wedding. When something scandalous happens George and Lucie do not see each other again.
Flash forward to 2018, and Lucie is getting married to Cecil. Everything seems to be going well until George shows up in the same city Lucie and Cecil live in.
I am always fascinated by the rich people in Kwan’s books. They just seem unreal. This may be a turn off for some people, but I love reading about the different types of super rich people. I also enjoy living vicariously through these people since I will never experience that in real life.
The book is a bit predictable, but most romance books are predictable. Isn’t that why we love them? We love reading a happy ending. This book is not as good as Crazy Rich Asians, but I still really enjoyed it and would probably read any book by Kevin Kwan because I find his topics fascinating.
