Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the second book I’ve read by Larson and I think I liked it a lot more than the Splendid and the Vile. I liked the format of how it jumped from different perspectives to show what was happening in Washington, London, the Lusitania, and the U-20. As a history teacher I knew about the sinking of the Lusitania, but this book showed me I didn’t really know anything specific about it. I knew people died, but I didn’t realize how many were children and babies. It was heartbreaking learning about all of the victims of the ship.

I think this will be the book that makes me read all of Larson’s books now. I love how he makes history come alive and makes it super interesting. After reading this, it kind of makes me wonder why this isn’t as talked about or have documentaries made about it like the Titanic.
