Book 105
Ties That Tether by Jane Igharo
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Azere promised her dad that she would marry a Nigerian man. Her mother is constantly setting her up with one guy after another, but Azere can’t connect with any of them. Then one night she meets a white man and they form an amazing connection, but can she pick him if it means losing her family?

I loved this book. I loved all the references to romantic movies and how the book at times resembled a romantic movie. I actually had no idea that this was kind of a romance novel. I figured it was just going to be a contemporary story, but was pleasantly surprised by the romance themes in the book.

I also don’t think I’ve ever read a book set in Canada so I also found that fun. I always enjoy reading about different cultures and reading a POV of a Nigerian Canadian was neat. I definitely will be interested in seeing what Igharo’s next book will be about.
