American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
I was hesitant to read this book after hearing all the negative comments about how a white woman wrote the book. I already owned it and decided to give it a try anyways. To me, it seemed like the author definitely did her homework. The book seemed well written and researched. I would like to read a book written from an actual migrant’s perspective, but I felt this book did a good job. I learned a lot and never realized how grueling and taxing the journey was. I never really thought about how dangerous it must be for women to make the journey, especially if they are on their own.
I would love recommendations for books that would further my knowledge on this subject. Preferably from authors who have first hand knowledge of the journey.
